SVQ Level 2 

Environmental Conservation 

(SCQF Level 5)

Qualification Structure

 

The SVQ Level 2 Trees and Timber consists of 3 Mandatory Units and 6 Optional Units.

 

Mandatory Units (Candidates must complete all five units)

 

  • Monitor and Maintain Health, Safety and Security

  • Establish and Maintain Working Relationships with Others

  • Develop an Awareness of Environmental Good Practice

  • Promote Responsible Public Use of Outdoor Sites

  • Survey and Report on the Condition of the Environment

 

Optional Units (Candidates must complete three of the following units)

 

  • Respond to Incidents and Emergencies in the Land Based Sector

  • Assist with Maintaining Structures and Surfaces

  • Construct Paths and Surfaces

  • Maintain or Repair Paths or Surfaces

  • Maintain and Repair Structures

  • Construct Boundaries or Access Points

  • Carry Out Work to Create or Manage Habitats

  • Identify Species

  • Plant Trees.

How long will it take to complete?

 

On average it will take between 12 and 15 months to complete the qualification

 

Where will I study?

 

The qualification is work-based, with the majority of training taking place in the work environment. Performance, knowledge and understanding will be assessed in a number of ways including a personal portfolio of evidence and tutor observations.
