Job Title - Woodland Project Development Worker

Wage - £24,200

Location - Various locations throughout Fife and beyond

Working Hours - 36 hours per week – Monday to Friday

Contract Duration - 12 Months

Closing date - 28th February 2020, 5 p.m.

 

 

Rural Skills Scotland Ltd. are in the process of putting together a project that will see significant areas of woodland in Fife brought back into active management. This will be done using a social enterprise model and we are looking to recruit a Development Worker to help take this work forward.

 

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual who has a passion for working and promoting careers in the outdoors.

 

The Development Worker will be responsible for a number of areas of work, including:

 

  • Establishing a detailed programme of work with our public and private sector partners. This will include costing the resources required.

 

  • Take part in the recruitment of staff resources for supervisory, operative and apprentice posts. In addition, the Development Worker will be responsible for recruiting and retaining volunteers who wish to take part in activities associated with the woodlands we are managing.

 

  • Create and/or develop existing partnerships with public, private and 3rd sector organisations in order to deliver on the organisations objectives.

 

  • Liaise with and agree priorities with interested community organisations as appropriate.

 

  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the programme of works and report back to Management and the Board as appropriate.

 

  • Monitor budgets on an on-going basis and prepare reports for Management and the Board.

 

  • Assist with the delivery of training and learning opportunities for a wide range of participants using the woods as a base.

 

  • Apply for and secure appropriate funding for identified elements of work and volunteering.

 

  • The post holder must possess a current driving licence.

 

 

Funding for this post is for a fixed period of 12 months. However we are a growing business at a very exciting time in our development and will be looking to build our staff team over time.

 

 

What experience do I need to have to apply?

 

 

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent.

  • Full clean driving licence

  • Trailer Licence

  • Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate

  • Experience of Risk Assessment and Management

  • Excellent decision making skills

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals and groups at various levels of seniority.

  • Experience dealing with public, private and voluntary sector organisations

  • Experience in a project management role

  • Budget management experience

  • Supervisory experience

Desirable Criteria

  • Emergency First Aid +F Certificate

  • NPTC Qualifications in Forestry

  • CSCS qualification

  • Experience working in the land based sector.

  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable as the role develops
