

SVQ Level 2 Estate Maintenance (SCQF Level 5)
Qualification Structure
The SVQ Level 2 Estate Maintenance consists of 4 Mandatory Units and 6 Optional Units.
Mandatory Units (Candidates must complete all four units)
- 
Carry out maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery 
- 
Develop an awareness of environmental good practice 
- 
Establish and maintain working relationships with others 
- 
Monitor and maintain health, safety and security 
Optional Units (Candidates must complete six of the following units)
- 
Assist with forest and mooreland fire fighting 
- 
Control pollution incidents 
- 
Install basic plumbing 
- 
Maintain and improve game and wildlife habitat 
- 
Maintain and repair paths or surfaces 
- 
Maintain and repair boundaries or access points 
- 
Maintain non-structural or structural components 
- 
Maintain slate and tile roofing 
- 
Prepare and operate a tractor with attachments 
- 
Prepare and operate a powered vehicle 
- 
Prepare plant or machinery prior to operational performance 
- 
Respond to incidents and emergencies in the-land based sector 
How long will it take to complete?
On average it will take between 12 and 15 months to complete the qualification
Where will I study?
The qualification is work-based, with the majority of training taking place in the work environment. Performance, knowledge and understanding will be assessed in a number of ways including a personal portfolio of evidence and tutor observations.
